To be seriously considered for this job you must:
- Live in the Chicagoland area.
- Be able to attend frequent meetings in the Loop
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of business fundamentals (marketing, finance, operations, strategy, management)
- Have a minimum of 4 years of college (MBA is preferred but not necessary) and at least 2-3 years of experience as a market research associate, business analyst, or small business consultant
- Have excellent writing skills. Most projects require lengthy, detailed written reports.

- Demonstrate excellent communication, presentation, computer and Internet skills
- Be adept at project management with ability to meet aggressive deadlines
- Have a solid understanding of online and offline marketing channels (Print, PPC, SEO, email marketing, etc.)
This is not a boring 9-5 job. You will have to learn new skills on the job. No two days will be the same. Expect to divide your time between market research, business consulting, marketing, business development, administration, and other activities.
Market Research — Market research projects usually require poring through large volumes of articles, databases, or reports; cross-checking facts; preparing interview questions; conducting phone or in-person interviews; designing, distributing and analyzing surveys; organizing and moderating focus groups and panels; writing reports; and more.
Consulting — Talk and meet with clients as part of a team or on your own. Expect to work on a variety of consulting projects — business planning, marketing plans, feasibility studies, etc. across different industries. Clients range from inexperienced start-ups to serial entrepreneurs and sophisticated business owners.
Marketing and Business Development — Help research, plan, manage and execute marketing efforts for Ground Floor Partners. This may include digital marketing, direct mail, PR and events. You will also be expected to attend networking events and one-on-one prospect meetings, and gather background information for proposals to help generate new business.
Administration — Everybody who works at Ground Floor Partners has to “get their hands dirty” with some of the mundane tasks required to keep a small business running. Among other things, this may involve solving occasional technical problems, negotiating with vendors, researching products and services, writing internal reports, etc.
The ideal candidate for this position is a well-rounded professional with a keen mind, high standards, excellent interpersonal skills, and great problem solving skills. Start off as a part-time contractor at $16 – $20 per hour (depending on experience). Convert to full-time salaried position within 6-9 months.
